Buyers need a qualified professional Inspector before escrow closes. It's a detailed,quality Inspection that is the best investment for their money , safety & health. In California, there is no such thing as a licensed Home Inspector. Anyone can be a Home Inspector starting tomorrow if they want. Beware! These type of Inspectors flock to Realtors/agents to market themselves with cut rate prices. The problem with that? Agents become their clients. RE agents who recommend me know I'm not out to "kill the deal" but rather "save the Buyer". If they need to go find another house it's because the Buyer made an educated decision and not one based on fear. Buyers need to protect themselves especially when choosing a Home Inspector by doing their homework and thoroughly checking their credentials, experience, certifications and knowledge. Being a certified member of CREIA, past President of the South Bay/LA and AV Chapter, past Regional Director and certified member of ASHI, I take a minimum 40-60 hours continuing education each and every year. That's not easy, but then conducting professional Home Inspections is a "serious" business and not something one should do with a lackadaisical attitude. I enjoy educating the Buyers. My goal is to teach each Home buyer how their new house works and doesn't work.
