I've helped publishing houses create visibility for books for two decades. As the Book Publishing Director for The New Yorker and Condé Nast Portfolio, I have invested the past 17 years forging relationships with top publishing executives who have come to count on my ideas for showcasing their authors. As Gina Centrello, President of Random House, says, "I will always take a meeting with Andrea because she is such a pleasure to work with. Her deep knowledge of the publishing business allows her to steward the many strategic partnerships we enjoy with The New Yorker. We have had a superb collaboration for over 12 years."PASSION FOR CONNECTING BIG AUDIENCES WITH GREAT STORIESAfter earning a BA in English from Columbia, teaching, working at the MacNeil-Lehrer News Hour, and attending NYU’s business school, I followed in my family’s footsteps in the publishing world. I landed my first marketing job at Simon & Schuster and later discovered my flair for packaging books for consumer appeal at Wiley. I then seized a coveted opportunity to run the book category at the New Yorker—my passion for the magazine as the perfect platform for book advertising trumping my then lack of sales experience. Upon driving record growth for this category, I joined the team for one of Condé Nast’s biggest launches. When this upscale magazine folded in 2008, the new publisher of The New Yorker hired me back. By the second year of my return, I had reinvigorated the book publishing list—in a mature, sluggish industry—with custom-built plans that also took clients’ advertising into the magazine’s digital age.ON "THE BIG MOUTH LIST"Publishers often refer to me as their “best reader” for the way I spread the word about books I love. Whether in my professional or personal endeavors, I'm known for my keen ability to articulate the value of things in which I believe. Because I take the time to get to know people and am a tenacious advocate for their interests, I've cultivated a loyal following.
