The job involved teaching learners between Entry Level to HND (Level 5) in Countryside Management and Animal Care. When the role was made permanent, I was also offered the position of Advanced Industry Skills Coach, which involved using my industry experience to organise and teach non-accredited courses in the community in wildlife gardening and horticulture.

"Improving the Outdoors"We were a landscaping and land management company, specialising in: tree surgery, scrub clearance, hedgelaying, habitat creation/improvement, and fencing, along with various other related services.In 2018, we were awarded a Peak District Environmental Quality Mark (EQM), recognising our contribution to the natural environment and the Peak District National Park. We were the first business of our kind to receive the award.We ceased trading in November 2018 due to extremely dry conditions affecting our profitability. I have, however, continued working for a number of former clients on a sole trader basis.

I worked part-time as a tour guide down this flooded 18th century lead mine, driving boats and telling customers the history of the mine. This required great confidence and assertiveness in speaking to groups of people and good customer service to ensure that everyone received the best tour possible.

Recruiting members door-to-door for various Wildlife Trusts. Oral communication and confidence were of course a high priority in order to speak with a wide variety of new people every day. Teamwork was also important, as I was both living and working with a small group of others. This job required mental strength in order to handle the rejections.Left due to not meeting targets.

This job allowed me to continue working professionally with horses and gaining site management experience, such as tractor and quad/trailer driving, tool and power-tool use and stock fencing.It further included the day-to-day husbandry and care of 15 horses and 4 sheep, including riding/lunging the horses, administering treatments and mucking out.

My main duties here were care and mucking out of the stables, which required hard, physical work and working outdoors in very warm weather (sometimes over 40°C.) Communication within a team was also a large part of this job.

Chester Zoo

This three-month internship was very enjoyable and introduced me to working within a zoo environment. The skills that I learned/improved here were mostly animal husbandry of various animals, including rhinos, zebra and other hoofed stock, while I also gained experience with tools and power-tools. There was a large degree of teamwork and communication involved in this position. It further shows my ability to work outside in all weather.

I trapped and released small mammals with a small group of others on a research project led by world expert parasitologist Dr. Andy Fenton. I found this to be enjoyable work and it gave me an even greater interest in ecology and conservation. Communication and animal handling were the main skills required during this job, while it also included some ecological sampling and laboratory techniques, such as parasite identification.
