About Aadhyaa Udawat
I dwell in the life stories of people. Living in a family of doctors, I understood ‘helping professions’ very closely. I understood the importance of mental health and the complexities of psychology by witnessing my grandfather struggle with a neurodegenerative disorder. I saw how that impacted not just his mental health, but also that of my family who often experienced compassion fatigue. I understood that it takes more than just keeping oneself in good physical shape to ensure a good quality of life.I learnt at an early age that even if one does not have a pathological disorder, mental and emotional hygiene deserve our acknowledgement every day. To that end I started taking personal therapy in tenth grade and learnt a lot about myself, my patterns, my mental health. As a fifteen year old, I decided to pursue a career in the psychological sciences. I completed my BA (Hons.) in Psychology from Ashoka University, Masters of Counselling from Monash University, Australia and a certification in Clinical Trauma Professional. I come from a culture wherein contemplative and meditative practices are used to access the wisdom of the mind and body. My practice of Vipassana meditation led me to pursue an Advanced PG Diploma in Mindfulness and Presence Oriented Psychotherapy jointly offered by Tata Institute Of Social Sciences, Mumbai and Just Being Center, Pune (ongoing) and a Diploma in Regression Therapy. As a counsellor and a person I greatly value deep acceptance, respect and autonomy of each person. All I want to offer is my genuine presence and time... to really listen and be a soundboard to the beautiful minds of today!
