I spearheaded the logistics for a Women in Technology conference, which attracted over 100 participants and featured prominent discussions on the role of women in the tech industry. As part of my efforts, I successfully recruited five notable speakers from various sectors within the technology field, enhancing the event’s value and reach. Furthermore, I collaborated with local communities to increase awareness about the opportunities available to women in technology, helping to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for aspiring professionals.

I provided support to 50 freshmen, acting as a key resource for their academic and personal development, while also guiding 3 junior mentors in their leadership roles. In the classroom, I learned to balance decisive action with flexibility, adjusting my approach based on the needs of students and the dynamics of the environment. I also played a significant role in creating and delivering informational tours to visiting administrators, showcasing the classroom and learning environment while demonstrating my communication and organizational skills. This experience helped me further develop adaptability and leadership in educational settings.

I actively educated local communities about cybersecurity through a series of online initiatives, aiming to raise awareness of digital safety practices and the importance of data protection. This involved developing and delivering accessible content tailored to various audiences, ensuring that essential cybersecurity knowledge reached a broad demographic. Additionally, I collaborated with government officials to amplify these efforts, working together to promote greater public understanding of cybersecurity threats and preventive measures. This partnership helped drive more widespread awareness and fostered a stronger, collective approach to protecting individuals and communities in the digital age.

The mentor providing this experience holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Thermal Engineering and has over 18 years of international engineering experience across three countries. Throughout their career, they have been involved in building combined cycle systems, testing gas turbines for exhaust emissions, and retrofitting industrial boilers from coal to natural gas. They have also worked extensively with cryogenic liquids and systems. Through this opportunity, I gained valuable insights into the design process, enhanced my problem-solving abilities, and developed a deeper understanding of the mechanical engineering field and its interdisciplinary connections.

During a 4-week period, I dedicated 30 hours per week to contribute to AI-driven projects and research. I worked closely with a collaborative team to develop cutting-edge AI solutions, where we brainstormed, tested, and refined our ideas. Our efforts culminated in presenting our findings and innovations to mentors and peers, which honed my ability to communicate complex concepts clearly. This experience allowed me to gain hands-on exposure to a range of AI methodologies, from machine learning to data analysis, while also enhancing my technical expertise and strengthening my teamwork and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
