In 1991, I became a registered midwife at Vårdhögskolan in Stockholm, Sweden, to thereafter complete a bachelor's degree. My master's degree was obtained in 2012, in Social Science with a Major in education with specialisation in Caring Education at Stockholm University, Sweden. I have a broad professional experience as a midwife since over 30 years, starting my career in the labour ward and neonatal ward at Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm. I also have experience as a teacher in nursing. Prior to my international career, I worked over 8 years as a midwife with clinical, administrative and supervisory responsibilities.. In 2010, I joined the UNFPA as a Senior Programme Specialist in Midwifery, posted in UNFPA Bangladesh country office until 2013. Thereafter, I served as a Technical Specialist in Midwifery for UNFPA in Lao PDR for three years. In January 2017, I joined the World Health Organization as a consultant, linking midwifery and WASH indicators in the birth settings. I joined Laerdal Global Health as a Global Program and Implementation Manager in Norway in 2017, leading the P&I team forward in our overall mission of helping save the lives of mothers and their newborns, in primarily low resource settings. Since October 2021, I held a position as Team Lead Pre-Service, focusing on midwifery, maternal and newborn health education. This includes leverage on existing Laerdal programmes and educational products, mainly within simulation, as well as exploring and driving development of new innovative solutions, including digital resources. In September 2023, I expanded my partnership role to take on Midwifery Education Lead at Laerdal Medical with focus midwifery education solutions development in collaboration with selected partners globally. I remain managing larger global partnerships within MNCH. As a midwife and a teacher, I have extensive technical experience within the wide range of SRHR, including adolescents and family planning, midwifery and education. I have also been responsible for overall programme management as well as provided technical, strategic and policy support to governments in development of maternal health care professionals in the health workforce.During 2017 and 2018 I led the International Council at the Swedish Association of Midwives, and remain an active member of the group. In September 2022, was elected to the ICM Independent Election Committee.
