Aaishwarya is a highly self-motivated and driven M.Arch, MA Architecture and Urbanism graduate from Manchester School of Architecture. She aims to create sustainable built environments that are embedded in their context and works at the intersection of the urban-architectural scale, with a strong focus on empowering communities through design.Her interest in sustainability has translated into action through efforts to practice organic farming, waste management, and water harvesting techniques.Believing in 'action as a necessity to change' she initiated and established a community-driven solid waste management system for 2000 people in her hometown which has been successfully running for the past 3 years. As part of the Advanced Practice studio at Manchester, she has intensively explored themes of retrofitting, utilizing new sustainable materials such as CLT, utilizing relevant software to assess daylighting while designing highly functional and socially sustainable spaces. Hailing from India, she brings to the table a great insight and understanding of community-driven projects, intergenerational living, creating dense liveable cities, a need for innovative sustainable climatic responses and ancient traditional practices of passive-cooling.
