About Aakash M.

Hi! I’m Aakash – your friendly neighborhood techie. Data is my canvas and insights, my masterpiece. From fine-tuning machine learning algorithms to implementing data-driven strategies, I'm all about trying to maximize my impact on the lives of people.I am a Cornell grad student pursuing a master's degree in Engineering Management. From project work to internships, I've honed my expertise in data analysis and visual storytelling. Although I am still in the early stages of my career, I am pretty confident about my Python, SQL and Tableau skills. I have worked on huge, historical stock market datasets and generated optimized portfolios. Besides other tech-focused tasks, I have also conducted several surveys as a part of my internships to perform market research for new product releases. But the thing that I most enjoyed was working with people from diverse backgrounds and skill sets – learning from them, laughing with them. When I am not diving into datasets, I try learning new skills. Ice skating is my new favourite thing to do, and playing around with ChatGPT comes a close second. Cooking is my go-to stressbuster, and I love it when people compliment my Indian food. I speak 3 languages, so when I try a little too hard to switch between them, its mostly gibberish.I am eager to take on new challenges that tease my brain and I'm always looking for opportunities to continue growing. Although I am particularly interested to work with data hands-on – as a data scientist, product manager or a consultant, I am open to discussing any other opportunities that involve data. I would love to chat. Drop a “Hi” in my DMs or reach out to me via email: am2567@cornell.edu.

As the newly-minted Product Analyst, I was tasked with transforming a beloved, small-batch sauce brand from its post-COVID slowdown into a force to be reckoned with in the food service sector.First order of business? Writing grant proposals - our ticket to understanding the sauce ecosystem better than an Italian grandmother knows her marinara. I was also involved in comprehensive process control documentation efforts by creating a user-friendly Notion guide, that even your tech-averse uncle could get invoicing right. Noticing that there was a lack of an inventory tracking system, I rolled up my sleeves and created one in Airtable, linking ingredients to production in a way that would make a supply chain analyst weep tears of joy.And just when you thought I was done, I’m out there hustling—securing leads from school districts and getting cozy with NYS Grown & Certified farms, all while collaborating with state officials to fast-track our certification process. In short, as the one true in-house consultant, I’m here to make sure Casa Visco’s sauces don’t just simmer—they sizzle. Small company (hell, even LinkedIn doesn't have the company's page), but certainly with a creamy-rich (forgive the pun) history. I must admit, I was initially more excited about the perks while joining (free pizza and pasta sauces, company-sponsored car rentals which I could use to sneak in trips after work). Later on, I came to understand the gravity of the impact of my work. Excel and ChatGPT APIs FTW!!! Later on, I came to understand the gravity of the impact of my work. Excel and ChatGPT APIs FTW!!! Reported directly to the CEO and had a chance to view the production line. Collaborated with the heads of various departments and built a product to track the COGS of products and advise on fixing a selling price to maintain margins. I would like to think I also helped a little with the production line (Thanks David, for engaging with my "moonshot", often absurd, ideas). Also, huge shout-out to the entire Casa Visco team, especially CEO Adine, who is an honor to work and discuss business strategy with. Show less

And so, my consulting journey begins. This was part of a required course, so I had people to help me each step of the way. At times, I was overly excited and at other times, I took way too long to process information.Worked on testing the viability of a Personal Finance Management (PFM) tool - for students. I mean, I would totally download that. If you are a student, you should too (I'll let you know when it's ready). Market research, survey designs, customer profiling, prototyping, product mockups - seemed like mysterious buzzwords earlier. A little less mysterious now. Also, I finally get to use what I learnt in my courses and previous internships. Surreal and satisfying experience. 10/10 would do it again, anytime. Show less

My first real break in data science. Learnt Python's data science modules (Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn and the other good stuff) and applied them on insanely huge datasets (they felt insanely huge at the time). Had a huge God complex when I ran my first regression and time series models. My boss humbled me real quick though!

Didn't want to spend my summer procrastinating/binge-watching anime. Thanks to Mr. Raghuram who saw potential in me. My main job was to talk to people, which I felt was odd at the time. MY FIRST ACTUAL JOB (internship, but still counts). WFH pushed my efficiency to the limits. Could write 2 whole articles in a day, while still attending college and maintaining grades (okay, a slight dip in GPA). And that too, SEO optimized. Cryptocurrencies seemed interesting but my dad wouldn't allow me to invest. That, and I splurged all my savings on food and movie theatres. Looking back, I absolutely have no regrets.
