I am Aalap and I have the dream of powering up the world with nuclear fusion energy. Having associated with many pioneers of fusion on different levels, I genuinely believe that nuclear fusion has the potential to fulfill the world energy requirement without compromising the global environment and also quench our thirst of space exploration. Now is the high time to change the course and enlighten the world with safe, clean, affordable, and abundant nuclear power.I have started carving my niche in the light of this vision of building a commercial fusion reactor. My learning spans out into four major fields – mechanical, aerospace, electrical and nuclear engineering. I have picked up many useful skills from my lab experience, reading research articles and working on different academic and internship projects relevant to building up the nuclear fusion reactor. My skillset incorporates hard machining (mechanical and electrical tools), 3D modeling, parametric analysis & simulation, post processing the data, quick first cut analysis of fusion reactors, critical thinking, circuit design, high voltage pulse-power system and system integration.I have seen projects lose support prematurely due to wasting time and money trying to find clear project goals and often because of their lacking economic viability. I figured that the simplest economical solution of the correct problem is the only key to success. Moreover, economics is mainly hinged upon the material cost. I have been associated with a unique, PJMIF based conceptual fusion experiment named PLX (Plasma Liner eXperiment) at Los Alamos National Laboratory. I provide modeling and simulation support for PLX. I work on the code named SPFMAX. It is a 3D MHD code using a Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics technique and solves Maxwellian equations to simulate the plasma behavior. This project is in two phases, and both are supported by DOE ARPA-E ALPHA and BETHE program consecutively. Moreover, my experience in Pulse Power Laboratory has taught me many crucial safety parameters while working with high voltage high power systems. Currently I am learning how to design and set up plasma diagnostics and how to shield equipment on the transmission line and surroundings from the radiation and EM pulses.I am open to work with mission driven people who share the same dream as mine. Willing to work in traditional and nascent fusion approaches. Let us join hands and make the fusion reactor commercial, compact, portable, and safe which does not limit to the terrestrial power, but also open up the outer space for humanity.

Research Associate IiThe University Of Alabama In Huntsville Jan 2021 - PresentHuntsville, Al, Us• Started by modeling straight unmagnetized coaxial plasma gun geometry and build the testcase by using initial parameters of the PLX gun. Run the PLX testcase with 36 of these guns mounted on the spherical chamber and ejected plasma jets to the center. Showed correct qualitative thermal expansion of jets.• Replicate the PLX interferometry chords setup into the code to verify the experimental result of the line integrated electron number density of plasma jets. Run more than 20 test cases with the interferometry setup to understand different physics happening while shooting all 36 jets. Provided extensive post processing support such as 2D and 3D scatter plots, surface plots, slice, and line plots to see what is going on with the jets at the different timesteps. Exposed the possible variability in X and Y translation of jets, variability of initial jet velocity, jets expansion and the interpenetration of the jets’ particles that creates shock waves inside the chamber.• Run the testcase with the exact geometry (wasp-shape electrode) of HyperJet1 magnetized plasma gun and input parameters from PLX shot. Switched on different plasma physics models such as two temperature model, shock physics, EM circuit model, radiation model and fusion model. Currently working on the test case with magnetized jets. • Analyzed different private and public fusion efforts since late 1950s. Provided presentations on concurrent heavily funded fusion experiments such as FuZE (sheared flow stabilized z pinch), MIFTI (staged Z pinch), first light fusion (inertial impact fusion), Maglif (Sandia z pinch). -
Graduate Research AssistantThe University Of Alabama In Huntsville Aug 2018 - Dec 2020Huntsville, Al, Us• Worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in UAH on the contract with HyperV Technologies. The work involved investigating the coaxial plasma gun design and geometry developed by HyperV Technologies for the plasma liner experiment (PLX). The experimental set up of PLX is held at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Worked on both the initial phase of PLX funded by DOE ARPA-E ALPHA and the second phase of PLX subsequently funded by DOE ARPA-E BETHE program.• Creating a magnetized spherical plasma liner for the fusion target is the aim of the experiment. I have performed numerical modeling and simulation of the formation and propagation of the unmagnetized and the magnetized plasma jet through the plasma gun.• Assisted developing the SPH code - SPFMAX - which solves Maxwellian equations through Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics in MATLAB environment for the plasma downstream simulation. Plasma is created and ejected by the coaxial plasma gun. -
