In my current role I am a customer service assistant. My daily role entails opening the store, preparing food, checking food dates to ensure all food provided is in date. I must ensure that I work effectively as a team member this includes building a good relationship with my peer staff members, communicating effectively with my team and supporting them should they need assistance. A key part of my role on a day to day is to ensure effective customer service. Ensuring my customers needs are met on entry to the store and meeting their every need during their visit and communicating with them in a way that makes them feel valued. Additionally, I ensure that I stay up to date with my training needs to be skilled within my role along with ensuring that I follow the guidance and legislation for my working role in relation to food hygiene and health and safety at work in order to protect the customers and my staff team.

As a nursery assistant I worked from the hours of 8 -6 daily. My duties included welcoming children on arrival, greeting parents and carers, settling children after their parent’s departure and then starting the daily routine which consisted of serving breakfast, changing nappies, meeting the children’s needs with educational activities such as circle time and outdoor socialisation. Additionally, I had to ensure that I was continually embedding policies and procedures such as health and safety and safeguarding of the children as they were very small when in my care, I had to always be hyper vigilant for their safety. I worked alongside another staff member and the manager whereby they would delegate various tasks to me as the assistant in which I carried out effectively. This role was my first position and not only was it rewarding it taught me several skills in which have been transferable throughout the years following.
