Project: “Initiating Astrocyte to Neuron Transdifferentiation Through MiR-124a: Implications in Neurodegenerative Disease.” Laboratory experience in maintaining cell culture, ELISA, western blots, amplifying and isolating plasmid DNA, transfection, and more. Conducted bioinformatics research using gene expression omnibus dataset. Regereneron STS semi-finalist.

Studied the role of protein gC1qR in breast cancer. Discovered difference in localization and abundance of gC1qR and its receptors in African-American breast cancer cells verses Caucasian breast cancer cells, providing a foundation for future targeting.
