I have experience of working as navigating officer on livestock carriers and bulk carrier ships, now shifted to only bulk carrier ships Livestock Carrier ExperienceAs a navigating officer on a livestock carrier ship, i was responsible for safely transporting live animals across long ocean voyages. This involved carefully plotting routes, monitoring weather conditions, and ensuring the well-being of the livestock cargo. Livestock carriers require specialized ventilation systems, feeding and watering arrangements, and veterinary facilities to care for the animals during transit. Maintaining stable temperatures and minimizing stress on the animals was a key priority. Bulk Carrier Experience On bulk carrier ships, my role is focused on the efficient and safe transportation of dry bulk cargoes such as grains, coal, ores, and cement. These ships are designed with large cargo holds and specialized loading/unloading equipment. As a navigating officer, i have to plan routes considering factors like draft restrictions, weather patterns, and port facilities. Careful cargo loading and stability calculations are critical to prevent shifts that could compromise the ship's safety. Bulk carriers often travel long distances between load and discharge ports. In both roles, i gained extensive experience in ship handling, navigation, cargo operations, and ensuring regulatory compliance for different vessel types within the merchant marine industry. my responsibilities required strong seamanship skills and a deep understanding of maritime best practices.Every day i learn something new.
