Scope: As part of the operations improvement team responsible for ​​​​supporting the production manager and ensure processing meets key ​​​​performance indicators, bottlenecks are identified and improvement ​​​​projects implemented​​​​Achievements:▪ Initiated, scoped and implemented a project and associated team members to filter a leach residue containing significant nickel and cobalt in unused filters on the opposite side of the refinery▪ Implemented process control measures and procedures to reduce cobalt losses by $250,000 p.a. achieved by predicting area bottleneck and controlling the feed composition to maximise throughput through the bottlenecks▪ Contributed to the creation of the Major Hazard Facility safety case▪ Implemented a system for the addition of an ash modifier that lead to a significant reduction in the accretion of ash in the coal fired dryers, reducing downtime and improving operational safety​​​Duties:▪ Work across all key areas relating to drying and grinding and leaching and extraction, and the cobalt plant▪ Investigate and respond to deviations from safe and normal areas of operation▪ Implement safe working procedures as part of a major hazard facility▪ Mitigate risk by ensuring process changes are properly considered and documented▪ Provide leadership and direction within the Operations Team and Operations Improvement Team by providing clear objectives, measures and targets that reflect current priorities▪ Present all technical findings, projects and capital submissions to management▪ Document technical findings to all standards▪ Analyse business operations and identify potential problems with upcoming projects or process changes▪ Conduct daily review of plant performance to ensure optimal balance between recovery, throughput and quality▪ supervise and coordinate staff including mentoring and coaching for new team members▪ Participate in project planning through conducting trials and reporting on findings
