I work with environmental standards and compliance within government agencies and the private sector. As a solutions-driven ecology major, for over five (5) years, I've been building my career as an Associate Wildlife Biologist working in the South Florida ecosystem guided by or directly enforcing Florida statutes. I was born in Miami, Florida, and grew up with its flora and fauna. I understand the conservation issues facing our Everglades through my studies with the University of Florida and from my readings. I grew up reading books on animals and space and watching forensic science and history shows on TV. But, as far as I can remember, I was always passionate about ecology and environmental science. As an undergraduate, I synergized different fields of science, from microbiology to animal behavior, during a wild songbird feeder experiment and collaborated with scientists from the Food Science and Human Nutrition departments and the Wildlife Ecology and Conservation departments. With my experience at Harvard Forest and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, I have presented my findings to teams of scientists and the greater public – emphasizing my ability to communicate complex scientific information to researchers and general audiences. Public outreach has always been a core aspect of my professional experiences, from my time as a canvasser for nonprofits such as CARE and the Human Rights Campaign and as a first responder for the Florida Department of Health during the COVID-19 pandemic.I work well independently and with others in fast-paced settings to meet deadlines. I am an exceptional communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills, which allow me to connect, build trust, and present to different stakeholders. I apply a scientific and analytical approach to problem-solving and have well-developed leadership skills and emotional intelligence. As a leader, I am methodical and look at the big picture with a hands-on, collaborative, and direct approach keeping everyone accountable.I am taking accounting and finance coursework to enhance my project management skills.
