I am an insurance and reinsurance expert with nearly five decades of experience, including as an executive, arbitrator, underwriter, auditor, and consultant. I have wide-ranging insurance expertise that spans accounting, finance, tax, and regulation in the United States, United Kingdom, Bermuda, and other international insurance jurisdictions. As President and CEO of Stern A. B. Inc., an insurance and reinsurance consulting and brokerage firm, I consult on matters involving mortgage and financial guaranty, residual value, credit and surety, alternative risk transfer, and structured coverages bridging the insurance and capital markets. I perform underwriting and claims audits of managing general agents (MGAs) and other companies involved in program business.Throughout my career, I have held executive-level positions in U.S. and international holding and reinsurance companies. My experience includes, for example, catastrophe reinsurance, alternative and financial risks, and insurance risk securitization. I have been retained as an expert witness in numerous litigation and arbitration matters. I contribute to professional and academic publications on insurance risk and speak at practitioner meetings and conferences.I was an electrical engineering student at Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn prior to my deployment to Vietnam. I later studied accounting at Baruch College. I am a U.S. Army veteran and the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
