During my MSc Forensic Science course I got nominated to take on the role of course representative. This role involved communicating the suggestions and praises of my peers about the course experience as a whole; this included the lecture materials, practical elements and any other extra-curricular activities to the course leader. By being involved in such as role at MSc level this further refined both my interpersonal and public skills.

During the completion of my MSc in Forensic Science I joined the Residential Warden team at the University of Lincoln as a Senior Residential Warden. The residential Warden team sat within the student services department of the University in which it provided on call evening and night support to all students living within the University owned accommodation. As a Senior Residential Warden I coordinated and attended team responses to a variety of incidents involving traumatic subjects such as mental health, self-harm, drug misuse and overdoses. During each incident contemporaneous notes were kept which were utilised later in order to produce a series of incident reports summarising the incident details and the support provided. Not only did this position provide me with valuable training in mental health first aid, safeguarding, active bystander and iResilliance but also the ability to confidently and comfortably work under stressful and traumatic situations, enhancement of my interpersonal skills allowing me to work well both independently and as part of a team, strengthening of both my oral and written communication skills and further refinement of my administrative skills.

During the summer of 2019 I assisted lecturer Dr Mark Baron at the University of Lincoln in the research of pigments, dyes and inks for the use as forensic taggant molecules that could be identified and analysed by Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) in the field. By being involved in such a role it provided me with valuable in depth knowledge and hands-on experience of research in a laboratory environment including the sample preparation and SERS analysis of a range of samples with interpretation of the resulting data.

During my BSc Forensic Science course I got nominated to take on the role of course representative. By being involved in such a role it greatly enhanced both my interpersonal and public speaking skills.
