At The Shores of Sheboygan I led a team of 33 employees and was responsible for the overall financial, operational and clinical performance of two assisted living facilities on the same property. I handled all aspects of business operations including HR, budgeting, sales and marketing, quality assurance, community outreach and regulation compliance. I learned a lot in a short time in this role. The biggest thing I learned was that I do not have a passion for long term healthcare. After 5 months at the company I made the decision to step down and gave over a month of notice. It was time to take a step back, reprioritize and evaluate what I wanted to do next.

At Derse I was really able to hone my craft. As a project manager I managed a variety of project types including new builds, permanent installations, corporate environments and existing service programs. I managed budgets for individual events in excess of 1 million dollars as well as multi-million dollar annual service programs. I created and managed timelines, client expectations, budgets and internal teams to deliver projects on time, on scope and on budget with the highest level of quality and customer service. In my first full year I was voted employee of the year by my peers and by the end of my second year, was asked to participate in the leadership development program to plan out and foster my career path into upper management within the organization. After nearly 3 years with the company and over 9 years in the industry I felt an inner pull to take on a completely new challenge and accepted an executive level position in healthcare administration. Derse was and is a great company that employs the most talented group of people I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

At Exhibit Systems I managed projects for about a dozen companies ranging from small 10x10 booth spaces to large 80x100 exhibits. My time here was cut short by an amazing opportunity to work for an industry leader that I had my eyes on for some time. Exhibit Systems was also a great company with a very positive culture.

At Horizon I managed show services and logistics coordination for every client (approx. 50 companies). After about a year I asked to take on additional responsibility which led to project management for a handful of clients. My decision to leave the company was strictly based on location. My wife and I were planning on starting a family in the Milwaukee area where she was currently employed. Horizon was a great company.

This is where I cut my teeth in the trade show world. I started in the warehouse, managing inventory, setting up and refurbishing displays, loading trucks and scheduling freight. I then moved on to ordering show services, supervising I&Ds and account/project management.
