I am currently working as a Senior Building Simulation Engineer at Big Ladder Software. My main role is as the Director of Training Services, where I am responsible for developing and delivering our training material. This training covers the EnergyPlus building energy simulation engine, as well as two of its interfaces (DesignBuilder and OpenStudio). We also offer training workshops for the California Simulation Engine (CSE) used by CBECC-Res for code compliance of residential buildings in California. To date, I have led over 80 workshops and trained over 750 people on these topics. I am also involved in support and consulting projects where I use these simulation tools for clients in various capacities. Visit our training platform to learn more:https://training.bigladdersoftware.com/Before working at Big Ladder, I was a Research Associate at the Energy Research Institute @ Nanyang Technological University in Singapore where my work focused on building energy modelling for design of high-performance buildings striving for Singapore's Green Mark certification and determining optimal retrofit packages for campus buildings. I have also served in a lead role shaping a roadmap to inform Singapore agency officials what building energy efficiency technologies should be high and low priority for R&D funding. I completed my thesis research for the Building Systems Program, which is a graduate program in the Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering department at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I conducted my thesis research at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory on a new cooling mechanism that combines liquid desiccant and indirect evaporative cooling technology. I have held various internship positions in city planning and construction while completing my undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Colorado School of Mines. My professional goal is to continue sustainable design work for individual buildings and then expand into sustainable planning work for small and large communities.Specialties: Training Material Development, Building Energy Modeling, Sustainable Building Design, Innovative Cooling

Senior Energy EngineerBig Ladder Software Jul 2014 - Dec 2023Greater Denver Area- Develop and lead training workshops focusing on teaching EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, and DesignBuilder. These workshops are offered in two forms: public workshops where anyone can attend and learn fundamental principles important for practicing energy modelers, and private in-house workshops for companies that desire customized training material specific to their modeling needs. Visit our training platform to learn more: https://training.bigladdersoftware.com/- Assist with analysis and optimization of beta-testing for offering support services for EnergyPlus and related interface tools (OpenStudio, DesignBuilder, etc.). Findings will be used to inform creation of a commercial-grade support service for EnergyPlus in the near future.- Assist with software development of in-house parametric energy modeling tools. -
Research AssociateEnergy Research Institute @ Nanyang Technological University (Eri@N) Sep 2012 - May 2014Singapore• Leader of research team tasked with developing building energy models of laboratory-intensive, mixed use, and dormitory buildings on NTU’s campus. This research will be used to develop guidelines on how to determine cost-effective energy efficiency retrofit packages.• Leader in consulting effort for developing Singapore’s Technology R&D Roadmap for Buildings Energy Efficiency with funding from relevant Singapore government agencies. Able to identify and prioritize 52 emerging technologies, develop pathways and timelines of development and eventual adoption, and cost-benefit analysis of technology adoption up to 2030.• Energy modeler for Scientific Planning Support (SPS) team tasked with helping develop high performance design of JTC’s CleanTech Two and NTU’s North Spine Academic Building. Both of these buildings aim to achieve Green Mark Design Prototype certification by consuming 40% less energy than a baseline building that complies with minimal standards.• Energy modeler for fundamental research project analyzing impacts of embedding micro-encapsulated PCM within a highly-reflective “cool coating”.

Graduate ResearcherNational Renewable Energy Laboratory May 2009 - Jan 2012Golden, CoThe research I have conducted focuses on mathematical models for water heaters, predicting solar water heater performance, and annual building energy simulation. My thesis focues on developing an optimal control strategy for a new cooling mechanism NREL developed that combines liquid desiccant dehumidification and indirect evaporative cooling technology to independently meet latent and sensible cooling loads inside of a building to improve occupant comfort and save electricity. -
