Co-founded and co-manage the Impact Investing Legal Working Group, a group of lawyers who work in the field of impact investing and represent a diverse array of organizations, including impact investors, social enterprises, law firms, nonprofit organizations, foundations, and academic institutions. The Impact Investing Legal Working Group promotes collaboration among lawyers working in impact investing by, among other thing, facilitating discussion, hosting conferences and presenting webinars.

I advise fund sponsors on the formation of funds and limited partners on investments into funds. My practice also covers other areas of transactional practice, including direct equity investments, formation of pooled investment vehicles other than traditional private funds, and setting up employee equity participation arrangements. I'm a co-founder of Reed Smith's Social Impact Finance Group and the Impact Investing Legal Working Group, and I regularly work with social impact investors and fund sponsors, including on the formation of blended finance vehicles.

Co-lead effort in the US to develop a portfolio of clients at Reed Smith focused on social impact investing and social enterprise. Work with colleagues in London to develop firmwide strategy.

I have been an associate on Reed Smith's Private Funds team in the Corporate and Transactional Advisory Group since December 2013. I was also previously in Reed Smith's Financial Industry Group working for three years on the Litigation team and one year on the Lending / Corporate Finance team.

Coordinate and manage New York-based activities and events for innovative social enterprise that partners with women artisans in Rwanda on a fair trade basis to drive forward a sustainable, long-term solution to systemic poverty in Africa.

I had a six-month secondment from Reed Smith LLP as a legal consultant at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, working within the private bank. My primary project was preparing the various business units for implementation of remittance transfer rules under Regulation E. I also worked in the areas of vendor/affiliate management, lending and deposit products.

I worked with faculty and student colleagues to develop a plan for implementation of a formal "social enterprise" program at NYU School of Law. I developed and wrote a business plan for the program, utilizing interviews with numerous professionals in the social enterprise space.

I helped research and write sections of I-DEV's business plan for submission in the NYU Stern School's Social Venture Competition. I researched and wrote about the competitive landscape in the areas of international development consulting, international development implementation, and corporate social responsibility consulting. I also participated in strategy sessions for presentation of the business plan. I later brought in I-DEV International as a pro bono client at Reed Smith LLP and have been representing them on various projects.

I was involved in many elements of founding the organization, from conceptualizing the organization itself to organizing events. I was a member of a small team that wrote a formal strategic plan, conceptualized the organizational structure, and eventually made a pitch for support to the Dean.

Worked on a number of cases, including a major bankruptcy/reorganization, a private placement of securities, an employment discrimination suit, a book licensing agreement, and a non-profit incorporation.

I was an NYU Center for Human Rights and Global Justice Fellow working at People's Watch, a human rights organization in Madurai (Tamil Nadu), India. My main task was helping to compile/write a report documenting the extent of police abuses in India in 13 different states. This included, for example, organizing all reports of abuses compiled from secondary sources and direct interviews, and writing a section of the report summarizing the legal infrastructure in India for preventing police abuses.

I was a teacher in the Global Young Leaders Conference, which brings high-achieving high-school students from all over the world to Washington, DC, and New York City for a 12-day leadership conference. I taught classes of roughly 20 students in two 12-day sessions. This involved implementing a full curriculum, including facilitating discussions, managing mock UN/WTO exercises, and briefing/debriefing various motivational speeches.

I was a ten-month volunteer in FSD's India program, living in Udaipur (Rajasthan). In my first position, with ALERT Sansthan, I wrote a report summarizing and critiquing the organization's PRISMO Programme, which was designed to work with Panchayats (local village governance groups) to improve citizen awareness, voting turnouts, etc. In my second position, with Seva Mandir, I worked in a village to create a youth center under the organization's Youth Resource Center pilot programme. This involved conceptualizing the center, securing community buy-in, procuring resources, planning events, securing a building, etc. The center is designed to address deficiencies in the government education system in rural India by providing students an afterschool opportunity to engage in extracurricular activities such as music, sports and art, as well as providing livelihood training, leadership opportunities, and more.
