Once a Chef, I have spent the last five years transitioning into various sectors as our world adapts to coming out of mass closure: content creation and marketing. Interestingly, I do not see the culinary and entertainment arts as all that different. Both stimulate our senses and involve a creatively disciplined process, but most importantly, food, writing, advertising, video, social media, and humour allow us to better understand our ideologies and our rapidly shifting cultures.I have spent much of my life amerced in either side of the humanities as either a creator or a consumer. I’ve lived in Toronto for four years now and originally came from Vancouver, two cultural melting pots. I currently operate and write for SMACK Media, a blog that focuses on music, film, and pop culture plus local events & businesses. We currently work with about 15 contributing writers and creators, as a space to explore the entertainment industry and overflow of culture offered by the City of Toronto. Positive reaction and growing readership of over 1000 weekly visitors have inspired me to take the next step and pursue a publication or agency that would be willing to offer the opportunity to grow alongside their client relationships and projects.I recently completed a two-year Business Management Diploma during the pandemic which opened my eyes to the systems of business planning, social media strategy, market research, accounting, business presentation skills, and visual communication. I also have considerable University credits for arts and writing courses. I have been a trained musician since I was 10 years old, a Chef since I was 18, and a cinephile since before I can even remember, and these passions have provided a unique perspective and sources of knowledge to my content and creative process.
