Duties included• Running design sprints and brainstorming sessions for design projects• Responsible for the development and overview of R & D projects in close liaison with the Engineering Manager/Managing Director.• Co-ordinate all activities associated with the R & D department.• Plan, organise and task manage resources to ensure R & D team activities are carried out efficiently and as specified.• Focus on defining, prototyping, development testing, program development and validation of R & D projects.• Investigate, select, and develop appropriate materials and technologies and associated specifications to ensure that design is robust and capable of meeting design intent and all verification and validation requirements.• Ensure that design for manufacturability and product cost impact (materials and processing) are considered in all decision-making right from early concept stage of the R & D project.• Development of new technologies, products, materials, processes, equipment to broaden the portfolio of machine build/automation solutions offered by the company.• Liaise and work effectively with the internal departments ensuring that all inputs and requirements are considered. • Liaise and work effectively on R&D assignments to third level institutions.• Liaise and work effectively with customers on their requirements• Compile end of year reports on R&D projects for accounts for R & D tax credits.• Keep track and own R&D budgets, and project spend.• Project reporting on project outcome to the customer, internal/external• Attend/conduct internal and external meetings relating to the R & D aspect of projects. • Technical support to Marketing• Design any prototype design that is required for R&D• Ensure up to date and effective communication with all team members on project requirements and any changes.• Complete records in accordance with the Quality Management System and follow procedures.

Automation Centre Of Excellence

Responsibility for designing bespoke automation solutions for the global franchise network of Johnson and Johnson.
