At AECOM, I am currently working alongside experienced engineers as part of the hydraulic analysis group. Some of my responsibilities include:- project management experience: working as a deputy project manager for >8 months on numerous projects within the AECOM Water business line. Creating monthly client invoices and progress reports, tracking project budgets internally, working with team to manage resources and complete projects within budget and on time.- hydraulic modelling: completing hydraulic modelling requests based on each projects scope using softwares InfoWater and InfoWater Pro on a regular basis. (examples include: existing and future water demand scenarios analysis, checking for adequate junction pressure and pipe velocity in the distribution system, fire flow analysis to ensure sufficient flow is available for emergency scenarios, etc.)- hydraulic model calibration and validation: creating a hydraulic water distribution InfoWater Pro model from scratch based on GIS water infrastructure and system data (flow, pressure, level, pump status, chlorine) as provided by the client. Creating a flow balance for the distribution system based on individual pressure zones, to determine boundary conditions. Incorporation of field data into model calibration to reach targets (flow/pressure monitoring, hydrant flow tests, c-factor testing). Validation of the model using an independent set of data to meet calibrations targets.- report writing: summarizing project methodology, results and engineering recommendations based on findings in the format of deliverable reports. Reviewing technical memos and reports for AECOM water business line and providing comments to ensure high quality deliverables.-client communication: attending project progress meetings to provide updates on deliverable timelines, update on project roadblocks, or additional information required. Preparing meeting minutes to document meeting action items.

In this position, I gained experience in municipal water and wastewater modelling, as well as the process involved in model calibration from start to finish. I used InfoWorks ICM, InfoSewer and ArcMap extensively in this role. My major responsibilities are listed below.- Assisted with the ongoing maintenance of both water and wastewater models using Infoworks ICM and InfoWater. This included updating GIS layers from their source database, editing subcatchment shapefile boundaries, editing properties of nodes and pipes in the models.- Supported the calibration of our upcoming dynamic wastewater model project by gathering rain gauge and flow monitoring data, performing QA/QC on raw data and determining data gaps.- Reviewed development applications by modelling water and wastewater servicing scenarios, and assessing the results according to current guidelines and standards (Ex: Water/Wastewater DC Criteria, Fire Underwriter’s Survey, pressure and velocity guidelines, sewer surcharge risks).- Compared infrastructure data collected in the field with values in our models, including manhole lid elevations and inflow rates to all sewer pumping stations. Investigated causes for inconsistencies and shared findings with our hydraulic analysis team, resulting in overall model and system improvements.

During this work term I focused more on the groundwater engineering side of my team’s work as well as continued to build on my GIS skills. Highlights include:- Reviewed hydrogeological background studies for projects requiring PTTW before their application was submitted to the MECP.- Collected hydrogeological data including cross-sections, borehole records and documents to provide background on study areas.- Utilized ESRI’s ArcGIS Online platform for multiple projects, allowing me to become familiar with creating and editing web maps.- Strengthened previous knowledge of ArcMap for water, wastewater, stormwater and development application GIS/mapping tasks.

In this role, I assisted the School of Computer Science with the transition of courses from in-class to online format as a result of Covid-19. My responsibilities included:- Working with a virtual team of professors and other Co-op students to create content for Fall 2020 students. - Collecting online learning resources for various concepts such as discrete math and statistics.- Preparing and reviewing materials to help incoming students understand course content such as video tutorials and self-study courses. - Performing quality control checks for online lectures by ensuring virtual lecture audio and written scripts were identical in order to comply with AODA standards.

In this position, I gained valuable water resource experience in a municipal engineering setting. Highlights include:- Working extensively with ArcGIS to create concise and professional maps for the public as well as to support various technical reports. - Analyzed spatial data including: source water protection (wellhead protection areas), water and wastewater distribution systems, infrastructure, endangered species areas, development applications, population growth forecasting and soil geology data.- Managed a historical dataset from the previous 10 years of development application reviews (water, wastewater, hydrogeological) using Microsoft Excel and Access for the optimization of the review process for my team.- Created geological cross-sections (ViewLog, Oak Ridges Moraine Groundwater Program web database).- Reported water taking amounts and filled out PTTW applications using the MECP website for construction projects in the Region.

In this job position I worked with a team of other harvesters to pick crabapples at various sites. The apples were used in multiple AppleFlats products including jellies and syrup. I worked in all-weather conditions for two months with 8 hour workdays.

I had the chance to work with Dr. Sheri Longboat for a research project on Canadian legislation involving First Nations in terms of water resource management. My work included:- Gathering all relevant legislation in Canada, Ontario and Guelph into an organized database.- Policy review and extraction of all applicable regulations to First Nations communities.- Creation of an AODA compliant website containing links and descriptions of the various institutions regulating water quality, water taking and indigenous rights in Canada.

As an event server at the Manor, I worked alongside other staff to provide five-star service to guests. Events ranged from bridal showers to corporate gatherings & wedding receptions. My responsibilities included:- Setting up events by arranging reception seats and place settings while paying close attention to details from floor plans and instructions.- During dinner service, served 3-7 course meals to multiple tables (up to 14 guests) simultaneously while addressing additional questions from guests.- Worked in a high pressure environment, including the kitchen and the event space, while keeping up with the time-sensitive schedule of event activities from the event planners.- After events, helped tear down chairs and tables, cleaned some event areas according to health and safety standards. - Trained and oriented new servers on how to provide great customer service and how to solve common issues, such as food allergies and intolerances.

As a Sales Associate, I provided help to shoppers on various kitchen appliances/supplies while upholding Kitchen Stuff Plus' exceptional reputation for customer service. Highlights include:- Operated the cash register efficiently in a high pressure environment during the holiday season. - Maintained organized shelves stocked with items at all times and designed shelf layouts to optimize the sale of certain items. - Used an inventory system to determine items available in our store and at other locations if needed.- Worked with a team of other sales associates and managers to reach daily sales targets using marketing strategies.
