Funding was through the Medical Student Research Training Program at UW. The project consisted of developing and trying a brief intervention employing behavior change counseling and motivational interviewing in a randomized controlled trial. Outcomes involved influence of self efficacy of patients regarding diabetes self-care skills after discharge. My duties included learning and performing motivational interviewing, designing the project, subject recruitment and performing the intervention. At the end of the project, I was required to write a paper and present a poster.
