Responsible for maintaining and extending the internal trading platform as well as integrating third party order information and processing data streams. Initially contracted to stabilize and correct existing code and implementation issues. Accepted the CTO role in Jan 2008 to assume responsibility for all development of a large-scale real-time security analytics and portfolio management system. Upon reaching stability, the project shifted to design and implementation of new functionality, increased scalability and security, and restructuring/re-architecting the legacy system from VB6 to .NET. Primary role: Mainframe application conversion to .NET n-tier web applications for the Global Integrated Menu System and database used by all Darden concepts. Re-Architected the new system to improve upon and exceed the legacy mainframe functionality. Introduced and implemented new frameworks and tools to simplify development. Implemented new code quality procedures, Unit Testing and standardized code. Introduced code reviews, cross-pollination, Continuous Integration to the company. Led requirements gathering sessions, QA testing initiatives, and Business Analysis. Mentored development staff. Presented new technology options and processes at Quarterly Developer Meetings.

Contract: Developed an inventory system, an ASP.NET web client and a Pocket PC client which connected to an inventory server using an n-tier design to allow approximately 50 Pocket PC device users to check and update inventory levels of various suppliers, and rate the quality of the provider. The Pocket PC client stored data locally using SQLCE which could then by synchronized with the central server over the web in an encrypted fashion. The ASP.NET web application included the same functionality as the Pocket PC version, but could also perform various bulk input tasks such as file uploads.

Contract: System optimization for a proprietary bond analytics project. Corrected critical errors in the system architecture. Added crucial functionality and enhanced security. Required extensive fixed income security working knowledge.

Optimized, stabilized and re-Architected a proprietary bond analytics product. Expanded the functionality of the system. Database conversion from Access to SQL 7.0/2000 with transactions (MTS and server side.), and completely re-architected the database from a flat format to a relational database with constraints, keys, triggers, indexes and converted all queries to stored procedures. Re-wrote all system applications and data import utilities, greatly improving stability, streamlining processes, adding functionality and increasing speed (in several cases, from hours to minutes). Added thread safety to non-thread safe DLL’s for ASP usage. Designed and implemented security features for E-Commerce web site applications from third parties.

Architected and implemented n-tier system using SQL Server 2000 (with strong transaction support), Visual Basic 6, DCOM/COM+, XML, a JavaScript enabled ASP front end (IIS 5.0) and heavy client utilities. Created coding standards, templates and utilities (to assist in rapid development and maintain the system,) executed code reviews, assisted developers with any issues during development. Responsible for middle tier objects, data access objects, assisted with front end development, assisted/finalized workflow design, setup server environments and domains, and assisted in NT domain / network troubleshooting when necessary. Developed solutions for complex transactional components, credit bureau data polling, lender rules parsing and processing, and work flow interfaces. Assisted business members to create specifications for the company’s RPMOne product.

Architecture and design of data access components, graphing applications, polled and real-time data acquisitions. Designed and maintained web applications (ASP.) Formed coding standards, executed code reviews and new employee orientation. Developed solutions and applications that hooked into the data stream’s API via TCP/IP and translated the data that utilized a multi-threaded architecture that would evenly divide the stream to multiple processors, summarize the interesting data and burst the results to a SQL server database. This program was crucial to lowering costs and making the co-branding project a success.
