Care of the patient status post open heart surgery: aortic valve replacement with monitoring of central venous pressure, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac index and cardiac output, mixed venous oxygen saturation and systemic vascular resistance. Assisted the executive administration with daily tasks and some small scale projects were assigned to me such as familiarizing myself with application processes specific to the California Department of Public Health in licensing a satellite-site clinic to operate as a primary care clinic. Other educational projects such as familiarizing myself with the Office of California's Statewide Health Planning and Development 3 compliance standards when licensing a clinic to operate as a primary care clinic site. Some work with quality improvement where the Plan Do Study Act (PDSA) Cycle was exercised due to discrepancies caused by the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in our facility.The PDSA cycle was put into practice to expedite patient throughput and remove communication discrepancies between the front office staff and the back office/administration. Plenty involvement with community outreach and education for the clinic's service population. Education provided on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and our state's new insurance exchange, Covered California. Much of this community outreach involved educating a primarily Spanish speaking population of the effects this health care reform may have on them. This involved training with Covered California and becoming certified as a Certified Enrollment Counselor (CEC) to assist with educating the community in the healthcare reform taking place.
