My journey in education began at the age of 19 when I joined The Compass in 2008, a role that sparked my passion for working with young people in alternative education settings. This foundational experience highlighted the impact that tailored educational approaches can have on students, particularly those facing significant challenges.In 2015, I continued to build on this foundation at SES Turnstone House, where I supported children with complex needs, focusing on both their academic progress and their emotional and behavioural development. This role deepened my commitment to creating supportive and nurturing educational environments.After a brief period as a KS4 tutor at Fred Nicholson School during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, I moved to the Midlands and joined The Winstanley School - The Shine Centre. There, I navigated the challenges of remote teaching, ensuring that students continued to receive quality education despite the constraints of the pandemic.I later returned to Norfolk, where I took on the role of Assistant Base Lead at The Locksley School. My responsibilities included managing daily operations, behaviour, and safeguarding, further honing my leadership skills in an alternative provision setting.Recently, I have been teaching at both Waterways Farm Countryside Classroom and Pine Acres Countryside Classroom, where I have developed and delivered a holistic, outdoor-based curriculum. These roles have allowed me to integrate biophilic methods with the National Curriculum, creating engaging and effective learning experiences that help students achieve recognised qualifications.As the Founder and Lead Practitioner of Elevate-Ed, I draw on all these experiences to offer a unique educational approach that combines personalised learning with the benefits of outdoor activities and sports. My career is driven by a belief in the transformative power of education and a commitment to helping every student reach their full potential, no matter the challenges they face.Outside of work, I am passionate about rugby, mountain biking, scuba diving and travelling. These interests fuel my energetic and adventurous approach to education, inspiring both myself and my students to push boundaries and explore new possibilities.
