As a Project Engineering Officer, I report directly to the Program and Resource Manager and am responsible for providing project management and engineering support to projects undertaken by the Major Projects Branch. Through participation in the project team, I provide specialist technical input to the execution of major projects as well as contributing to the initiation, planning, contract administration, co-ordination, commissioning, energisation, handover and review of the projects that deliver key transmission assets in accordance with agreed schedule, budget and relevant standards.I also provide support to Project Managers and other Officers within the Major Projects Branch and Network Development Branches as required and undertake the liaison role with customers for the aspect of projects related to the supply system.Key responsibilities:• Compliance with statutory legislation policies & regulations• Ensuring projects are managed to agreed time & cost levels• Preparation of system disconnect and reconnect orders, system alteration orders & equipping permits necessary for the implementation of individual projects• Sourcing and purchasing of specialist equipment from manufacturers & suppliers• Provide specialist technical and engineering advice to staff & contractors as required• Mentoring of less experienced staff in project related principles & activities• Recommend improvements & develop expertise in specialist areas• Compliance with Work Health & Safety and Environmental legislation• Effective work planning & process improvement to increase productivity on an ongoing basis• Budget & financial planning management• Undertake specific project & contact tasks in planning, execution & closeout stages of major projects• Address project execution problems within the range of their experience• Monitor & report on works progress• Contribution to the preparation of project proposals• Maintain effective relationships & networks

Key responsibilities:• Manage the day to day functions on Major Project sites. • Co-ordinate activities for completion to the required standard of quality, on time and within budget. • Plan, co-ordinate and monitor work activities carried out by staff to deliver services to meet Project specifications and to ensure that work is carried out to standards and that productivity and safety targets are achieved. • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of work schedules and the organisation of plant and equipment, materials and staff to meet those schedules. • Co-ordinate equipping, commissioning and decommissioning actives that may involve cross-functional work groups and external contractors. • Monitor staff and resources to support work schedules and establish controls to ensure that budget targets are met. • Establish and maintain job records in accordance with the quality system. • Promote and improve productivity of staff by continual process improvement in work practices and site systems • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with the Quality Environmental and Management Systems (QEMS), Safety Rules, Regulations and Loss Control System. • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with associated work instructions, process control plans, project management plans and Safe Work Method Statements. • Maintain regular contact with the Project Managers & Project Engineers / Engineering Officers through on and off site meetings to ensure good communication and understanding. • Liaise with Project Managers / Project Engineers and Engineering Officers in the preparation of system switching requests and associated technical information and data. • Implement safe working practices and compliance with statutory requirements. • Conduct induction of staff and contractors as required. • Demonstrate effective safety leadership to staff.
