Created and directed the vision and priorities for a total of 6 major hardware and firmware programs, with authority for up to 4 simultaneous programs as well as the international, multidisciplinary teams who developed and executed them. Current 4 programs were responsible for $350M revenue in fiscal year 2012. Client Satisfaction: Ensured $35M in yearly Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) sales by meeting aggressive development schedules to be consistently first to market with 3 major deliveries. On one project, saved a $60K+ deal by leading the team to deliver a customized level of code for a customer who required additional functionality. Multiple concurrent projects: Brought 4 projects to market in 2012. Concurrently managed and delivered to market 3 projects per year for the last 5 years. Delivered to market 18 projects over the last 7 years. Schedule management: Managed programs with projects ranging from 6- to 18-month development cycles. Programs that were struggling to meet schedule and budgets were reassigned to me. Consistently delivered projects in these programs on time and under budget through clear communication and successful risk mitigation strategies. Budget management: Managed development budgets from $2M-$12M. Created development project estimates, including capital equipment estimates. Controlled projected spending by leading development of a self-certification process for a major OEM customer, saving $100K+ on one project. OEM management: Promoted for negotiating a new test process with an OEM supplier, which improved project delivery by 1 quarter. Managed 3 OEM vendors acting as partner extensions of the program team, including 2 international teams in Germany and Japan. Matrix management: Experienced leading international, multidisciplinary teams of 10-50+ members from development, testing, manufacturing, procurement, service, and finance teams in 4 countries.

Led design team and provided expert review of the technical work of other engineers in order to deliver innovative, low cost, high quality products. Team Leadership: Responsible to oversee 3 design engineers in the design and delivery of a major hardware upgrade of our high-end automated tape library. Technical Leadership: Led design reviews with multidisciplinary teams to ensure reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, and cost. Technical owner of OEM relationship: Responsible for the review of the mechanical design and delivery of OEM Stackable library. Participated in design reviews with OEM vendor, reviewed functional and technical specifications, and wrote procurement specifications for OEM library.

Experienced and innovative design engineer and team collaborator, holding 9 US patents and 1 China patent, with experience designing from a blank slate and within the confines of existing hardware. Design Engineer: Designed and selected materials for components and sub-assemblies for the TS3500 Enterprise Class Automated Tape Library. Created technical and assembly drawings using GD&T to communicate important feature information. Collaborated with extended design team to innovate and solve design issues. Design Analysis: Performed tolerance analysis and stress analysis. Design Verification: Conducted design reviews on all parts of the library for form, fit, function, and manufacturability. Performed Mean Swaps Between Failure (MSBF) testing and worked with cross-functional teams to identify, understand, and solve system issues in order to reach 1M MSBF. Cost Avoidance: Designed cost-effective parts and assemblies by working with vendors to optimize design for manufacturing processes. Problem Determination: Developed and ran tests to identify root cause for hardware issues. ISO Compliance: Led cross-functional team to update and document the hardware development process for the tape storage area for ISO compliance.
