I lead Eakin R&D which is an integral part of the Eakin Healthcare Group principally servicing the Product Development needs of the Eakin Healthcare group. The primary function of Eakin R&D is to develop products for the Ostomy Market but the group have companies specialising in feminine healthcare and disposable medical instruments. As part of my role I have developed many unique and novel manufacturing processes particularly in adhesives production which will give the Group competitive advantage for many years. I have also led the diverse team developing through to launch many medical devices during my tenure. I am passionate about building and developing skilled technical teams and have recruited and built a Team made up of Designers, Formulation Scientists, Test Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and Industrialisation Engineers . The team develops medical device products from Concept through to the marketplace. Products are Globally launched.

I was the first Mechanical Engineer employed by Galen. I joined the company at an exciting time in their growth. My duties were varied and I learned a great many technical skills due to the fast paced environment. My key achievements were: • Building a design team to support the Pharma services aspect of the Group• Building a CNC tool room for tooling manufacture – a key Strategic competitive advantage for the company and in many ways allowed them to become what they went on to become. • Development of specialist machines for internal use in the Clinical Services division. • Development and implementation of planned maintenance system covering multiple factories and sites • Securing multiple inventions with patents.When I joined I was effectively joining an enthusiastic Maintenance Team, by the time I left I had helped to build a diverse group of Engineers with the skills and tools to quickly react to ant challenge presented.
