My name is Aaron Holmes. Before moving into Veterinary, I started my career in shipping in 2000, joining P&O Stena Line as an Engineering Officer Cadet and progressing over the next 8 years to the rank of Second Engineering Officer with BP Shipping Singapore at the age of 24. I remained Second Engineer, running many teams of engineers on board oil tankers for 12 years, organising all maintenance and repairs as well as diagnostics and fault finding to ships systems and machinery including diesel engines both 2 and 4 stroke, hydraulics, electrical power generation, air conditioning and refrigeration amongst others.Finally the birth of my son Christopher inspired me to leave the shipping industry and move to a profession where I wouldn't spend 6 months of the year thousands of miles away. Utilising my skills in team leadership and department management I took over the business side of Sore Paws Veterinary Clinic in Newton Aycliffe, and using fresh eyes and unorthodox approaches to maximise efficiency I helped to double the gross turnover within the first 12 months.This enabled us to purchase property and with my background in engineering I was able to convert an abandoned public house into what is now a thriving veterinary clinic at Winlaton Tyne and Wear.We have every intention of opening more branches of Sore Paws 🐾 in the coming years, with emphasis on maintaining the independent values that have made each of our two branches successful in their own rights - Blending modern medicine with old fashioned care.If you have a business proposal that can be mutually beneficial and want to be part of our growing Sore Paws family please get in touch I would love to talk.We are always expanding and as such we are always hiring, so if you're a veterinary professional and looking for a new challenge then let us know!
