I was born and raised in Newcastle and have been an avid fan of tech and video games since I was a very young age.Having worked in hospitality for six years whilst I attended university, I felt that I needed a big change. I first tried coding in my first year studying Physics, where I used Python for mathematical modelling purposes during a programming module, and found it incredibly interesting - this is where I knew where my real passion lay, and made the switch to a software development career path.Since then, I have attended a full-stack software development boot camp at Northcoders, where I learned how to develop semantic and functional web applications using a variety of JavaScript, HTML and CSS, as well as frameworks such as Tailwind and React. In addition to this, I learned how to develop RESTful services by utilizing postgreSQL and Express.JS, and combined them to create a responsive final project by the name of LifeCycle, which involved a lot of peer programming.Moving on from that, I dove into expanding my skills, taking on projects in C# with the ASP.NET framework, trying out Java with Spring Boot, and slowly making my way through resources to learning C++.My ultimate goal is to become a holistic, tech-agnostic developer, able to adapt to any language, framework or problem, and I've pursued this by focusing on the fundamentals; data structures, algorithms, and architecture. I'm a firm believer that knowing how to do something and understanding how it works are two very different ballparks, and I'm always striving to understand everything I come across!Currently, I work in the Proclaim case management system, implementing start-to-finish solutions alongside lead developers and project managers, all the way from project scope to user testing and release to production.At the moment, my free time consists of a lot of learning:- small video game projects in Unity- 3D modelling in Blender- finding new cool ways to implement stylish CSS animations and visuals- reading through the C++ Primer by Stanley Lippman (Which hopefully I'll finish this year!)- reinforcing the knowledge I currently have in web applications through C# tutorialsThanks for taking the time to look at my profile, and feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions!
