I am the director of the Community and Urban Transformation (CUT) program at Booth University College. My auto-ethnographic research focuses on matters of musical self-transformation, including the historical conditions of its complex subjectivity and multi-institutional mediation with public health, the culture industry, and religion. I am currently exploring the musical wellness of Canada's "crisis of youth" as made up of practices bridging public health and self-care in disadvantaged communities such as Winnipeg's North End. To explain such phenomena, I draw insights from cultural sociology, sound studies, urban studies, and critical social theory. I have taught courses on Popular Culture & the Self, Social Change, The Social Life of Cities, and Community Psychology, and I have guest lectured in Studies in Art & Culture.
