Aaron Klausing has a background in music education, attaining both an undergraduate and graduate level degrees in music education. Furthermore, he has worked, at varying degrees, with great educators; this has provided opportunities to fully understand, appreciate, and hone skills to properly to run a high quality music programs.Additionally, he has had the fortune of working with a highly respected non-profit group called the Louisville Leopard Percussionist (LLP). The group, founded and directed by Diane Downs, is an organization catering to youth ranging from seven to twelve years of age. The group specializes in percussion instruments as a vehicle for creating and teaching music. Since its founding, this group has had tremendous success using their methodology to greatly enhance not only musical success for these youngsters, but also prepare them for academic success. The Louisville Leopards program is internationally recognized by highly regarded musicians and organizations, and has even piqued the interest of various broadcast entities. LLP was recently given the distinct honor of participating at the Jazz Education Network down in New Orleans, Louisiana. Additionally, the group has played the Percussive Arts Society International Convention a multitude of times and opened for highly respected groups My Morning Jacket and Chic Corea. In 2006, Home Box Office (HBO) recognized the unique qualities of the group and filmed a thirty minute documentary, called “The Leopards Take Manhattan”. The group expresses a high level of dedication and quality simply not found in most musical groups catering to this age group. His specific role has been to teach and arrange the music played by the group. Having this experience has been invaluable in shaping teaching methodology with respect to teaching students.
