Personal projects at a young age has inspired me to become a mechanical engineer. In my early years, I have tinkered with bicycles and skateboards as that was what was available to me. As I grew older, my tinkering had moved towards motorcycles and cars. That allowed me to apply practical mechanical skills as well as understand the necessities of proper assembly. These projects required thorough research as it was necessary to change and upgrade components. All of these projects throughout my life have shown me the importance of design intent for the customer which I translate to my profession. The beginning of my education started at BCIT with a diploma in Mechanical Engineering. This program taught me all the necessary basics to be a useful contributor to the engineering field. Practical skills like using AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, and many more allowed me to feel confident to adapt to any company structure. Furthering my education was a decision based on my future plan, as I want to have free rein with designing products. This exposed me to further theory knowledge as well as exposing me to a high stress environment such as Formula SAE. This competition required me to be meticulous with designs for a car that not only needed to be functional, but needed to be optimized while remaining within budget. Even though it was a high stress environment, it was greatly rewarding and a very fond memory. As of late, I have completed a few personal projects from minor home renos to retro fitting a smart home system into my house. With all my experiences, I plan to become more proficient electro-mechanical field by furthering my skills in programming and CAD. With all these skills, i'd like to eventually design and build a motorcycle as a personal project. Regarding education, I plan to obtain my MBA and possibly a masters but only time will tell. I look forward to always growing.
