Responsible for all day-to-day managerial duties at Ostindiska Olkompaniet in Gothenburg, Sweden. These duties include staffing, orders, event management, pricing, bar and food menu development, media, and supplier correspondence.In this position, I took intermittent leaves of absence for research-based roles and other positions at Gothenburg University and elsewhere, but was retained as a consultant during these periods.

Project-based employment. Core staff for the launch of a national research infrastructure project based at the Varieties of Democracy Institute (V-Dem). Compiled datasets and drafted reference documents. Cleaned, aggregated, and merged datasets using R, PostgreSQL, and other tools.

Reviewed, edited, and formatted research papers, articles, and reference lists for publication.

Research Project: “Legitimacy Outside the State, Governing the Global Internet.” Head Researcher: Dr. Jan Aart Scholte. Compiled literature reviews and reference lists. Collected and managed large data-sets, coded surveys and survey data in Qualtrics and NVivo, transcribed interviews, and other general tasks. First began as an intern and later hired as paid staff.

Organized and managed events, travel programs, accommodation, and transportation forvisiting academics, professionals, and diplomats. Worked with local advocacy groups, organizations, and businesses to create individually tailored experiences for visiting groups. Found and secured work-placements for visiting professionals.

Legislative intern for Rep. Scott Peters of California’s 52nd district. Drafted memos, tracked legislation, attended briefings, monitored media and constituent correspondence. General policy research and analysis.

Worked in the IRC’s Center for Financial Opportunity helping newly arrived refugees obtain their first employment in the United States.

Valet at Tower 23 Hotel, Bar, and Restaurant.Worked in a fast paced environment with an emphasis on customer service. Managed a garagefor a restaurant and hotel with or without other valets on duty. Greeted guests, gave travel advice, and worked as a bell-hop as needed. Also worked as a Valet Attendant for Ace Parking Inc at several locations and events.

Managed a gift shop in a busy tourist area in San Diego. Duties included working a cashregister, keeping inventory, cleaning, opening and closing the shop, and general customerservice.

Wrote features on local events such as charity fundraisers, local policy, and other events and issues. Managed the company's online blog. Created advertisements for clients using programs like Quark, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Worked as a waiter in the fine dining establishment White Sands of La Jolla. The restaurantwas considered a black tie establishment, and my uniform was a suit and tie. Took orders,bussed tables, and completed cleaning duties and side work at the beginning and end of myshift. Worked on Sundays as a bartender at the brunch bar.
