Aaron M. Email and Phone Number
I am a Foundation Year 1 Doctor at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust with interests in critical care and anaesthetics. All of my experiences to date have given me a well-rounded view of healthcare. I supported myself through medical school by working as a community healthcare assistant then residential support worker for vulnerable adults. I have had the privilege of pre-hospital experience as ambulance co-responder, practicing independently in peoples own homes at possibly the worst time of their lives. However, you can see all of this in my profile below, there is more to me than my professional life.I love scuba diving. Learning in the UK was challenging having to deal with the cold and poor visibility, remaining calm while disorentated is essential to complete tasks. Honing these skills in this real sink or swim environment, allowed me to visit places including the Solomon Islands and Great Barrier Reef, that not many people have the opportunity to see.Teaching is another interest of mine, having gained qualifications in St John Ambulance Cymru, which continued during medical school where I delivered life support training and system focused examination teaching to medical students and staff, acute medicine simulation sessions, and bedside teaching to early years medical students. My interest in teaching actually started during martial arts training. I gained a black belt in Kempo, worked as an instructor for local clubs, and competed in and judged national competitions. The outdoors is where I choose to spend my free time, I enjoy hiking and running, and am thankful for having the Peak District right at my doorstep. I have also completed the Gold Duke of Edinburgh's award, and carried out expeditions to Snowdonia and the Alps. Furthermore, I like cooking, and would regularly cook a Sunday roast dinner for residents and staff at a residential home I worked at.My peers have described me as organised and conscientious, the fact I still have my cycling proficiency certificate from primary school on file might support this. I always put a lot of effort in anything I do, and try to be the best I can be. My friends also say I "don't do thing's by halves", I think this shows in my achievements to date including Head Boy at Sixth Form, Lord Lieutenant's Cadet and Regimental Sergeant Major for Gwent and Powys Army Cadet Force, Student Mentor Consultant, Divisional Officer in Charge Cardiff LINKS St John Ambulance, and now I am proud to say Doctor.
