I moved to San Francisco to land my dream job, and as Senior Developer I worked on a wide range of unique projects while coordinating with a small team of remote developers. After inheriting an aging e-commerce platform, I worked tirelessly to rebuild much of the store and backend functionality with a modernized MVC framework. I built vital inventory management tools – from tracking vendor shipments and deep warehouse integration to automating stock messages and an array of dashboards. Over the course of just a few weeks (partly while in Thailand!) the PJ team conceived and launched Photojojo University, a platform for email-based educational courses focusing on timely topics such as Phoneography 101.

Sorenson provides Video Relay Service (VRS) to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, helping millions to communicate every day. Working alongside their design agency we delivered an entirely new and engaging web presence. I developed an extensive content management platform that allows the marketing team to keep things fresh across their network of sites, including video and social outlets. The CMS is comprised of modular components built with the Kohana MVC framework, and allows fine-grained control of markup with hierarchal navigation, cascading templates and user-defined page fields. All assets are version-controlled using Git and MySQL and deployed via a simple web interface. The platform is extremely flexible and has been adopted for everything from customer newsletters to internal support documentation.

Paste Labs is the name I operated under as a full-time freelancer for over 5 years. Starting in Arizona and moving to Salt Lake City, I earned the trust and loyalty of my clients by holding my work to the highest standards. I enjoyed handling every aspect of a project from the design and user interface to the development and system administration. I built the interactive floorplan application iFloorPlan, improving its features and flexibility with each new builder. To this day it is one of the homebuilding industry’s most sophisticated sales tools, and has served over 30 builders and thousands of floorplans nationwide.

Contact is a small design firm made up of good people who do great work. I shared an office and worked closely with Contact while also maintaining my own freelance clients. When combining forces on web projects, they would handle the design while I managed the development. We collaborated on a number of different web projects from non-profits to startups. For each new client I would expand and improve the custom CMS framework I had developed over the years.

In 2002, Blufish Design was a brand new interactive agency and at 20 years old I was an ambitious young "web designer" and the first hire. We quickly grew the company into bigger offices and bigger clients, and today Blufish is a thriving agency with two locations and a large staff. It was at Blufish that I went from Perl CGI scripts to PHP and taught myself to build database driven websites with MySQL.
