I have worked in many areas of IT over my two-and-a-half decades of experience. I've worked in IP Telephony, Healthcare Claims Processing, Cryptography, Cyber Threat Intelligence, and more recently I've developed a passion for Big Data, Observability, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). I've become a heavy user of time-series databases - InfluxDB and Prometheus especially - for storing and reporting performance and availability metrics, and ElasticSearch for full-text search. I enjoy visualizing data in Grafana to identify trends and to tell powerful stories about such services and the systems that run them.
