In 2011, Dr. Rakow co-founded College Steps, a non-profit organization with a mission to advance higher education and independent living skills for college-aged young adults living with neurodiversity. By 2016, he had co-led the growth of College Steps to 12 college campuses across six states. In 2013, Dr. Rakow co-founded InSite Solutions, with a mission to provide school-based mental health services for k-12 students in Washington, DC as well as mental health training, educator wellness services, and consultation for k-12 school staff. In 2018, Dr. Rakow worked with his co-founder to merge InSite Solutions with MedStar Health at which point he co-founded the WISE Center at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Since 2018, Dr. Rakow has co-led the WISE Center's growth to it's current partnerships with over 50 schools throughout Washington, DC. In 2020, Dr. Rakow co-founded MindWell Psychology to advance access to evidence-based mental health care throughout the northeast, with locations in Albany, NY, Ithaca, NY, and Burlington, VT. Dr. Rakow is also currently an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown University. Dr. Rakow is a native of Ithaca, NY, and an alumnus of Cornell University (2001) where he studied Human Development (2001) and of the University of Vermont where he received his doctorate in clinical psychology (2010).
