Moving from the General Imaging Department at the University of Michigan Health System to the Computed Tomography Department at the same institution lead to a excellent learning experience. I was diligently trained in the 130 diverse protocols that are practiced, including cardiac, vascular, neuro, and bone imaging. After my training at the University Hospital, I was given the opportunity to be a part of the Computed Tomography team at the new C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. At this facility, I diversified my computed tomography skills to the specialized protocols of pediatrics. A very important characteristic of the CT protocols are the designation of a patient's weight to limit radiation exposure. Set noise indexes have been established by collaborating with our staff radiologists to consistently lower radiation dose while maintaining diagnostic quality images for dictation.

For completion of my degree as well as a requirement through the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) I mastered my X-ray mandatory examinations here at this facility. After my nine (9) month internship, I was approached with a job offer in the general imaging department. In that specific department much experience was attained due to its dynamic nature. I become knowledgeable in many settings such as, trauma, OR, GI, portable and general inpatient studies. As my experience and knowledge of department and hospital protocol grew, my leadership responsibilities grew as well. I became a leader of my designated shift and assisted with scheduling patients, communicating with in patient transportation staff, as well as solving technical issues within the PACS and RIS systems.
