My responsibilities as a programmer at Bookbyte involved performing the following tasks:- Working with customer service to automate several of their processes.- Developing RESTful APIs for a couple of our different sites.- Data scraping services to retrieve rental/purchase information for our RentU program through Amazon.- Optimizing our fulfillment and printing slip program to minimize overhead costs and print times.

My responsibilities as a programmer at Bookbyte had me working on the subsidiary business SellerActive, an order/inventory management solution offering competitive repricing based on market data, in which I would perform the following tasks:- Researching online marketplace API documents and developing an integration between said marketplace services and ours.- Developing a new RESTful API site to replace the existing one, for more technical users to utilize for adding and fulfilling orders from currently unsupported marketplaces.- Developing a new file upload tool and file parsing program to replace the existing one, for users to add or modify existing orders or items.- Updating various existing technologies on both the SellerActive website and the management software running order and inventory services on our supported marketplaces.- Performing various support tasks as they bubble up from the support team to the development team, applying timely bug fixes.- Database management, constructing new tables, adding columns and indexes, applying and optimizing stored procedures, and providing optimized solutions between .NET and SQL platforms by minimizing number of database calls and overhead costs.- Working with the marketing team to apply new UI changes and tools to the website, as well as integrating with services to monitor the effectiveness of changes.

Worked as a resident coordinator at Salvation Army's homeless shelter in Salem, OR. These were for the homeless with a plan to move out, we provided a 6 month housing period in which they would attempt to pull themselves back in to a stable life. This was a full time night shift position, from midnight to 9:30 AM four times a week. Responsibilities included the following tasks:- Nightly laundry of towels and the weekly laundry of bed spreads.- Handing out and accounting for bed spreads at the start of each week.- Nightly bed inspections to ensure residents were all accounted for by curfew.- Handing out strikes on resident violations, after three strikes it was taken up with management to remove the resident from the house.- Ensuring new residents had their medical examinations as proof of not bringing any sickness into the house (This included tests for TB).- Preparing breakfast and coffee for all residents before waking hours.- Waking residents promptly at 6 AM, and ensuring all residents were out by 8:30 AM (Residents were required to go out and seek employment on weekdays, weekends residents are allowed to sit in).- Inspecting the grounds around the shelter at night to ensure everything was locked and secured.- Performing breathalyzer tests on residents suspected of drinking, as well as up-to-date drug tests on all residents when coming under new management.- Logging and keeping track of each bed under use and which residents occupied them, as well as assigning daily chores for each resident.In addition, when I resigned from this position in preparation for my job at Bookbyte, I spent some nights working on a side project using Excel programming. I optimized the way they logged residents and their chores into the Excel sheets, having to only modify one sheet now where they had previously had to update five different sheets each night and would sometimes make mistakes of continuity across them.

I worked at University of Oregon's 4 story Knight Library for 4 years while attending as a student. This was a part time job, logging 10 hours a week. My responsibilities in this position included the following:- As an LSA 2, was expected to be a team leader and set an example.- Stocking shelving carts with scanned books returned into the sorting area, preparing carts for the shelving teams to handle.- Shelving books from shelving carts back out into the public stacks.- Training new employees on policy, responsibilities, resources, and general guidelines and safety.- Patrolling the public areas for loose books left behind, retrieving unsorted material and bringing back to the sorting area for reshelving.- Inspecting public stacks to ensure shelves are in order and to rearrange if necessary.- Occasional migration projects to create more shelf space by funneling carts full of books from one end of the library to the other.- Summit processing of books the library is shipping out or books returned to the library by other schools.- Answering patron questions and directing to sought materials.
