As a Cloud Engineer, worked on a cloud project for a federal client that resides exclusively in the AWS Gov Cloud Region and abides to FedRamp High standards.• Creation and management of several CloudFormation Templates that make up the infrastructure for the different applications. These CFT are written in a dynamic nature so one set of nested stacks can be used to manage and deploy multiple environments, i.e. development, QA, staging, and production. Examples of AWS components leveraged in these CFTs include: EC2, RDS, VPN, Lambda and API Gateway.• All of these environments are deployed through DevOps Pipelines. Originally the pipelines were run from GitLab, but over the course of time, they have all been converted to Jenkins pipelines, while still keeping GitLab as the source code management tool.• A major CI/CD activity was the creation of a pipeline that creates a fully STIGed RHEL 7 image that is used as the base for which all of our other application servers are built on top of. This is accomplished through a combination of Jenkins, Docker, Ansible, and Packer.• Deployed managed services tools (Active Directory, Centrify, Trend Micro, Nessus, Splunk, GitLab, Jenkins) into the development account to service that account. Most of these tools also exist in the production accounts as well, so over time they have been redeployed and properly upgraded as well through a CI/CD process.• Served as the Splunk SME for the entire program. Created dashboards, reports, and alerts that monitor the health and performance of both the application and the servers themselves. Redesigned the Splunk environment to be a distributed environment comprising of 2 indexers, 1 search head, and 1 master node. The distributed environment was deployed through a CI/CD pipeline that had Packer create a base Splunk image, a CFT to deploy all 4 instances, and then Ansible to reach out and configure the images appropriately, which was all run from Jenkins.
