This specialised Unit provides Military Aid to Civil Authority (MACA). Here I have been employed in a number of roles. Firstly as the Unit’s Crypto Accountant; I ensured that the entirety of the Unit’s protectively marked assets, documentation and IT & Communications equipment was stored, issued, receipted, accounted for and destroyed in accordance with Joint Service Policy. I was later assigned to Field Army HQ as their Crypto Accountant/PVRO running a large Crypto Account, multiple Sub-Accounts and covering as Crypto-Net-Controller for the South West of the UK.As an Installation Manager I was responsible for my vehicle’s servicing and upkeep ensuring it could be held at readiness 24/7 in response to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) threats. My current assignment within this Unit is as the Unit’s Training Junior Non-commissioned Officer. This means that I am tasked with ensuring that personnel are suitably trained on detachments, sent on relevant career/Adventure Training courses and organising several training camps a year so personnel can complete all of their mandatory soldier tests (First Aid, Law-Of-Armed-Conflict, Map Reading etc). Additionally I am the Lead Physical Training Instructor I also write the Physical training program for the Unit thus allowing us to maintain our various Operational Commitments.

During this assignment I was held at “extremely high readiness” to support Military Ammunition Technical Officer and Civilian Police for protective services against the Radio Frequency Improvised Explosive Devices in the form of Electronic Counter Measures (ECM).Upon completion of three months of ECM training at the Defence Academy of EOD Training I deployed across various locations. I later assumed command of a team of seven Operators and was responsible for their welfare, training and had overall responsibility of all of the section’s equipment’s serviceability.

Germany

On completion of my preliminary training I was assigned to this Unit and employed on a Mobile Communications Platform as an Installation Crewman. My role on this installation was to provide first line support and service provision for the Radio Frequency network connectivity to a Headquarters which enabled the service delivery of Radio Voice and Data Services. I later deployed to Afghanistan where I was employed in headquarters, patrol bases and ground roles to support Voice & Information Communication between a number of NATO forces.
