The purpose of this research project, was to propose a model for huddling penguins. More specifically, to analyze how penguins move throughout the huddle and how those movements effect heat distribution. I developed and programmed a model which accurately captured the primary behavior of huddling penguins using Matlab programming language. The methods utilized concepts stemming from complex analysis and numerical analysis. I then presented the research at the Northern California Undergraduate Mathematics Conference. I guided students understanding of valuable concepts behind mathematical theories and helped them develop critical thinking skills essential for success in math and other areas of studies.

I first studied the work previously done by the lead researcher on the project. I then continued his work, solving and programming numerical solutions to a nonlinear form of the Schrodenger Equation. The project required extensive knowledge of differential equations, numerical analysis and Matlab programming language.
