Having spent the last five years stewarding a large scale bond project with my current school district and getting an MBA focused in Technology Management, I am looking to move into more of a management role either with an ISD or possibly a higher Ed facility. I’ve also begun a second master’s degree program in Technical Communications as a way to add another dimension to my experience in the Technology field. I began my 25 year career in the 90s, working for small shops and in phone support. In the early-2000s, I opened my own company, working with small businesses and learning more about filling their needs with small business servers and active directory. I parlayed this knowledge into a position with Hernando County school system, running the servers and website for their Exceptional Student Education department. From there, I moved on to Fort Worth ISD, changing to a more Microsoft-centric role. Upgrading their old SMS and Ghost based infrastructure to SCCM 2008, implementing Forefront Identity Manager, and managing the Cisco VSOM and CPAM physical security system rollout were my major accomplishments with Fort Worth ISD; and led me to my current position with Carroll ISD.As the lead engineer for Carroll ISD, I led the 5 person engineering team. We were responsible for maintaining existing systems while planning for a future major upgrade via bond. Ghost and SMS were replaced with SCCM, the aging VDI backbone was replaced with Cisco UCS and EMC storage and all remaining physical servers were virtualized including Cisco UC. The 2017 Carroll ISD bond was an interesting challenge. We were tasked with providing a backbone for a 1 to 1 initiative and higher-end VDI desktops, capable of running the Adobe suite and AutoCAD. I oversaw the process from conception through installation and maintenance. The project was done ahead of schedule and under budget, leaving the district capable of providing services for the next 10 years.
