Accuracy is vital to the quick processing of these shipments. Along with my main import role, I also took on numerous other responsibilities within the company. I was appointed a super user for our forwarding software (Cargowise). The key features of this role were to assist other users in developing their skills and aiding the development of the system as a whole. Researching and testing new areas of the system and new operational methods to create efficiencies within the business is a large part of this task. I also fulfilled a similar super user role surrounding Microsoft Excel, assisting colleagues and peers to create efficiencies using the program and the facilities available within it.

Along with handling FCL and LCL shipments from start to finish, customs clearance and haulage, I also managed the companies’ warehouse. This involved managing the arrival of the container to the warehouse, the devanning of the container and the splitting and re-delivery of the cargo.
