Enghouse hired me to start development of products suitable for the Internet. The result was SpatialExpress, a browser-based precursor to Google Maps etc. - Architecture, development, deployment and support of Enterprise-scale Geographical Information Systems (GIS) portals using J2EE, J2SE, DHTML, C/C++, and UML.- Lead a focused six person development team delivering customized versions of GIS products for large utility companies in the United States, Canada, and Japan.- Responsible for strategic product research and development of new product lines.- Provide pre-sales and post-sales on site consultation at a variety of locations in the United States, Canada, and Japan.** Enghouse has provided me with experience in the management of small teams of focused developers on large scale development projects.

Full-time salaried position. Terran Communications was a small technology consultancy formed during the Internet boom. I provided technical services (software development, network configuration, etc) to a number of clients. The following were my major engagements:Bell Mobility:- Lead a team of consultants responsible for configuration and deployment of 2500+ desktop PCs.- Architecture, development, deployment, and documentation of an Enterprise Information Portal used to manage the entire Windows 2000 roll-out process. This solution was unsolicited, but quickly became critical to managing the process and coordinating the varied teams involved in all aspects of the roll-out.Infrastructure for Information:- Architecture and development (as a Team Lean of a three person team) of a Microsoft Word-based SGML editor.- Lead a four person team in the development of a product which embeds structure information from SGML documents into associated published PDF documents.- The Sports Network (TSN):- Architecture and development of a sports score and game results data-mart and associated customer facing information portal.- Lead a four person team in the above development effort.Exco Engineering:- Architecture and development of a web based asset and change management system. This system is used to document Exco's IT infrastructure and to track all changes made to IT equipment.** Terran Communications provided me with invaluable consulting experience. In retrospect, it can be seen as the foundation for my consulting career.

Hummingbird Communications is now the OpenText Connectivity Solutions Group.- Responsible for the integration of a full-text indexing engine from Verity into Hummingbird's Internet application suite Columbus.- Responsible for the design and development of reusable core Columbus components related to multi-threading and data-piping.- Responsible for the architecture, design, and development of the HTML browser component of Columbus.** Hummingbird Communications provided me with exposure to large scale, multi-person team, software development efforts. Development was done in C/C++ using Microsoft Foundation Classes. I was hired as a junior developer and within two weeks I had secured a position with the group writing core infrastructure components.
