As a Senior Product Specialist for Brainlab Australia-Pacific, I managed the installation, implementation and adoption of the first four Airo (Brainlab's mobile intraoperative CT scanner) sites in Australia. This involved providing consultative solutions to the customer on all levels, from discussions with hospital CEOs about expanded platform usage and improved perception among surgeons, to training of the technicians on device cleaning and storage. I was the point person for both customer and internal clinical and technical support. In addition to the external aspects of this role, I worked extensively with the internal Brainlab team to improve customer-facing technique. The internal development course I taught and the mentorship I provided for field-based interactions led to increased customer satisfaction and substantial increase in efficiency, time which was put toward increasing business.

As a Senior Clinical Specialist, I provided onsite consulting at Northwestern Memorial Hospital following a multi-million dollar Brainlab purchase. While ensuring across the board customer satisfaction, I also developed the hospital, a new Brainlab customer, into a reference site for product demonstrations, key opinion leader visits, and Brainlab-assisted research. I was the onsite advocate for all technical, clinical, sales, research and administrative concerns. In addition to my duties at Northwestern, I was the product expert for a novel Brainlab technology linking neurosurgical and radiosurgical treatment of brain tumors. As such, I coordinated upstream marketing efforts, gave presentations to prospective business partners, and assisted with clinical demonstrations across the country.

As an Application Consultant my main role was to provide clinical support to surgeons, primarily in Neuro, ENT, and Ortho specialties, using image guided surgery systems to maximize efficacy. I fostered relationships with surgeons and other OR personnel to ensure product satisfaction and promote usage, both of current technologies and new products. Also, I worked in a consultative capacity with the sales and marketing teams to increase the range of clinical applications for which the customer used Brainlab products.In addition to the surgeons, I worked with and trained nursing, radiology, sterile processing and biomed departments. If the user could not solve an issue, I performed technical troubleshooting and fixes involving computer hardware, software and networking. I was responsible for addressing concerns that often required immediate solutions in the interest of patient care.

My research focused on using the zebra finch auditory system as a model to study neural and behavioral processing of natural and pseudo-natural stimuli. I designed and executed neuroscience experiments exploring adaptation of auditory neurons in songbirds.

At Lockheed Martin, I was the Production Hardware Lead for the Integrated Submarine Imaging System (ISIS) program. The ISIS program provides a graphical user interface for submarine periscopes, and I oversaw the production units through integration, sell off and at-sea deployment. Throughout the process, I diagnosed hardware, user interface, and physical interface issues and developed solutions in extremely time-sensitive environments. Additionally, I acted as the program’s representative to vendors, subcontractors, customers and the end user and I directed testing and training at various stages in the production process. Using the customer requirements, I wrote test procedures and evaluated performance metrics; the final evaluation was performed during 3 to 10 day sea trials.
