As the Chapel Steward of Worship and Men’s Mentoring, I planned and executed all of the worship services for the University, as well as led a men’s peer mentoring group called “The Peak”. While committed to this work, I saw a 53% increase in attendance and participation within the mentoring group, and a 2% increase in those attending our weekly chapel services.

As the pastoral intern for the summer I served by assisting the Director of Christian Education, Dee Burbrink, in reconfiguring the youth programming and learned how to navigate through an organizational change process. I also spent an immense amount of time studying under my pastor, Peter Jessen, learning about exegesis and the art of pastoral care. During this time I wrote and orchestrated our VBS, as well as delivered a message for the congregation at the end of my time.

While serving as the Chapel Steward of Devotion, I developed a program called “Prayer Break”, lead a small group book discussion of “The Story” in which I gathered together a group of eight students that regularly attended the study. Furthermore, I edited a Lenten devotional that was written solely by students and faculty of the University of Indianapolis. I also served as the Worship Leader for two services each month. Through this work I learned how to organize a team, how to work with supervisors, and how to create a culture.
