Reporting to the Finance Director and later Interim Finance Director. Assisting on all accounting and accounts process matters, including reporting and management accounts. Providing support to the finance team, collaborating on training, processes and development work with Glasgow site.

Part of the proactive management accounts team on a temporary basis, I am primarily responsible for the property portfolio, in addition to Corporate invoicing.Varied duties include preparing several accounts for upload to the management accounts pack.

As a Trainee accountant in an SME I have had the opportunity to see the finance world from another angle.Maguires has skillfully positioned itself in a strong positon to expand which I have been able to see first hand.My duties here have been varied and it has been a fantastic opportunity to learn what it takes to build a successful enterprise.

- Coding and registering a large volume of invoices- Ensuring allocation to correct ledgers- SOX compliance- Use of Coins Software- Use of MDAX Software- Use of outlook- Ensuring appropriate level of approval provided before allowing invoices to be cleared- Investigation and resolving timesheet quieries- Assigning appropriate GRNs with Purchase Orders- Ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices- Providing additional support to the team during busy times

- Handling incoming invoices ensuring correct allocation to teams and thus ledgers- In all duties practising audit level accuracy- Use of COINS and MDAX for enquiries- Uploading electronic versions of invoices for easy accessibility and audit assurance- To ensure accuracy I have developed strong organisation and administration skills- My Accounting knowledge has greatly aided my understanding in this role

Main activities and experience: • Providing a high level of support for customers, providing basic knowledge about an extensive range of products sold in M&S stores. • Frequently using initiative to ensure the team is effective in meeting to goals set out by management.• Working very closely with the team, checking wellbeing of other staff members and ensuring newer employees are comfortable in their set tasks. • Utilizing intricate knowledge about the importance of specific products in the store meeting its turnover targets.• Creating, maintaining and distributing stock to ensure maximum customer purchasing and maintaining the high standards M&S expects of both its displays and the logistics of minimizing waste through appropriate date rotation and if necessary adjusting shelf space allocation to mitigate potential losses. • Problem solving of erroneous transactions and carrying out reconciliations to ensure store accounts are maintained to a sufficiently high standard – often involves finding new ways of using existing systems to ensure accuracy. • Liaising with key members of management and customers over the phone to resolve issues and improve efficiency of business processes.• Key to my success in this role has been my commercial awareness
